Seed Seminar

Description of the Seminar

General description of the Seminar

The objective of the Seed Seminar of Mathematics and Physics is to create a platform in which the postdoctoral and non-permanent early-stage researchers in the area of mathematics and theoretical physics meet regularly to share their research with the broad community from different universities.

Postdoctoral years can be seen as a period of coming out of the cocoon of the primal collaborations during the doctoral years. Therefore, to branch out from the Ph.D. program, one needs to be exposed to good questions for the postdoctoral academic stage. We hope that by means of this seminar, we are indirectly selecting these research questions and subjects suitable for this academic stage and helping in highlighting collaborations within this demography.

In addition to the postdoctoral researchers who will be the main speakers of the seminar, outstanding senior researchers being experts in their research areas in mathematics and physics will also be part of this series to foster harmony across generations. This seminar aims to play a vital role for researchers to enhance their international research network.

Last but not least, meeting researchers having encountered the same academic challenges of improving their research skills and network and securing a permanent position means that the seminar participants have so much to share and relate to. We hope that the seminar could also be a bridge to creating a sense of community and a starting point for other scientific and non-scientific activities.

Guidelines for Prospective Speakers:

The scope of the seminar in broad revolves around both theoretical physics and mathematics (and the many bridges between them). The main ideas and motivations behind each presented topic should therefore be understandable by both the mathematicians and physicists in the audience. Furthermore, each presentation should fit into 45 minutes + 15 minutes of questions.
